The Suite Life - Melanie Summers

The Suite Life (Paradise Bay #3)The Suite Life by Melanie Summers
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Having loved The Crown Jewels Romantic Comedy Series and then gone on to read the first two books in the Paradise Bay series, I couldn't resist getting stuck straight into The Suite Life. Like the other books I've mentioned, this is a very funny and light-hearted romance and once I started it, I just had to read the whole thing in one day. It's a good job that it was the weekend and I had two fewer children to worry about. With only the teenager and the pre-teen at home and with nothing but rain outside the window, I was more than happy to get lost in this caribeen set novel.
Melanie Summers seems to be very good at writing slightly spoilt male characters who are a little bit lost in the world that they are in. While the idea of a 'poor little rich boy' might not sound that enticing, there is something about the way that Leo appears in the book which just redeems him.
I loved the development of Leo's character as he accepted that the life he has been living possibly isn't the most fulfilling and that being rich might not be all that it's cracked up to be. For Brianna, it was more about learning to live and relax a bit and accepting that her highly driven way perhaps wasn't for everyone.
This is a comedy and yes it did make me chuckle away to myself. That's not to say that it has no depth. There's certainly far more here than laughter. It left me with a smile on my face, as well as just a little sadness that I'd reached the end already. I can't wait for the next book from the Kingdom of Avonia.
I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
